DETERMINE MAIN WORLD

The Main world of a solar system is its most hospitable world. The idea is that the Main World is the probable main point of interest for a Traveller entering that system and that it can be generated by the Referee before worrying about the rest of a system. For the Main World, Determine Main World rolls are made with Adv+2.

O, B, and A stars will not have habitable worlds and are unlikely to be visited except by the rare scientific probe or expedition assembled to study such systems. It is probable that such stars have no fully formed planets.

Roll 2D6 for Type on World Type Table A. Then roll 2D6 for size. F stars have Adv+2, and G stars Adv+1, on both rolls, in addition to the bonus from being a Main World.

MVT - Mega Volume Tons. A Volume Ton is 1 cubic meter. 1 Million Volume Tons

Habitat Main World

The system does not have an inhabited main world. Instead, Volume Tons here represents the size of Habitats stationed in the region of the system’s most habitable world. These habitats don’t have to be one piece, they can be different Habitats, each serving a particular specialized role. The Volume Tons measure the mass allocated for Life Support and Crew. The actual structures and infrastructure can be far more massive than these numbers suggest. If the world is not a Habitat, skip to the appropriate section (See the “Dwarf Planet Main World” text or “Terrestrial Main Word” in this section)

MVT - Mega Volume Tons is 1 Million Volume Tons. A Volume Ton occupies 1 cubic meter.

GVT - Giga Volumen Tons. 1 Billion Volume Tons.

Habitats have a Minimum TL9.

PVT - Peta Volumen Tons. Trillion Volume Tons.

Vtons to Person

This is how much Volume Tons are needed for Long Term habitation. This is not just empty space but the volume tons allocated for storage of consumables, power, recyclers, processors, medical requirements, and life support.

Long term Habitation

The Maximum Population values from the chart above assumes around 6 months of Habitation without the need for imported resources. The typical Habitat will eventually need maintenance using resources brought in from the outside. A habitat properly built for indefinite habitation will be able to support half this value indefinitely.

Dwarf Planet Main World

These are smaller worlds than your typical Terrestrial Worlds with size measured in Lunar masses. For a Dwarf Planet Main World, roll 2D6 on the Lesser Earth Type Table to get the planet type.

Position modifier will be used when rolling on the “Lesser Earth and Disks Zone Table” when determining the position of a Dwarf Planet Main world on page 19.

Carbonaceous Type

This is the most common type of planet material, as it is made of simpler elements and has a lower density. These are Volatile, rich, Lesser Earths. Because they are made of more volatile and lighter material, they are more commonly found in the Cold Zone and beyond

Silicaceous Type

These are like stony Lesser Earths with relatively high density. They are not as light and rich with Volatile Compounds and can be found in the Hot, Habitable, Cold Zone, and Outer Solar System.

Metallic Type

These are the most dense type of lesser Earth. They tend to be found closer to the Sun. They contain heavier elements and are rarer than other types.

Other Type

These are the many different types of lesser earths that do not fall neatly in the aforementioned 3 types.

Terrestrial Main World

The main world is a Terrestrial Planet made mostly of Silica or Rock; and heavier elements like iron; with mass measured in Earth Masses.

Determine the gravity of the Dwarf Planet or Terrestrial Planet by making a 2D6 roll. Planets of the same mass may have varying gravity if they have differing radii.
