Mneme Cepheus Engine Rules
Mneme Cepheus Engine Rules
The Mneme Cepheus Engine Rules are a streamlined variant of the Cepheus Engine System Reference Document (SRD), optimized for automation, clarity, and ease of use in character generation and gameplay.
Overview
The Mneme variant introduces quality-of-life improvements and streamlined mechanics compared to the Rules-As-Written (RAW) from the Cepheus Engine SRD. These adjustments maintain full compatibility with core Cepheus Engine gameplay while improving pacing, reducing redundancy, and simplifying bookkeeping.
Key Changes from RAW
- Rolls Simplified: All core rolls (Qualification, Survival, Advancement) use a unified 2D6 vs. Difficulty system with variable target numbers instead of static 8.
- Re-Enlistment Simplified: No separate re-enlistment roll required. Players may choose to re-enlist freely between terms.
- Aging and Anagathics Streamlined: Aging begins at Term 5 using Core Task Resolution (2D6 + END DM vs. Difficulty Terms+1). Anagathics simplified to 100,000 Cr per term, max SOC-7 uses.
- Draft Careers Changed: Draft represents forced/dragged-into careers (Barbarian, Belter, Colonist, Mercenary, Pirate, Rogue) rather than government conscription.
- All Careers Have Advancement: Previously advancement-less careers (Athlete, Hunter, Scout, etc.) now have ranks.
- Drifter Career Adjustments: Automatic qualification, no retirement benefits.
